Sydney Public Transport Sample App displays buses, ferries and trains in Sydney and New South Wales in quasi realtime
on maps. The data is collected via REST from the Open Data portal of the Australian government.
This app demonstrates how to use Flow Director for use cases where assets (like buses, trucks) report their coordinates so that positions can be tracked and displayed on maps, like in fleet applications.
Get the API Keys
This app requires that you have an API key for the Open Data portal of the Australian government and for Google Maps. Both are free, only registration is required. Get them here:
Save both keys; you'll need it later.
The default user is
admin with the password
changeme. After login please change this password.
Specify the API Keys
Go to the
Flow Orchestration menu and edit the single
On the upper right click on the flow parameter icon:
Add both API keys by using the edit and then the add icon:
Go back to the
Start the Flow
Click on the cell below the router and then on
The flow is now receiving data.
Start the Dashboards
Click on the
Dashboard Orchestration menu. It shows you all available dashboards.
Select all dashboards and all routers. Click on the button
Set x Dashboards on y Routers and select
Activate as action:
SET and Flow Director will deploy and activate all dashboards on all routers.
Display Live Maps
After activating the flows and the dashboards, click the menu item
Routers. It will list
each available router as a menu item. Each router has the same sub menu items:
Sydney Trains and
Sydney Metro display a single map and the update history:
Sydney Public Transport shows buses, metros, ferries and Sydney trains.
